Philosophy

Our objective is to provide your child with a loving and kind environment in which his/her fullest growth potential will be fostered.

Curriculum

The curriculum at Central Preschool centers on first-hand, direct experiences that are appropriate for young children and their unique stages of development. It will incorporate opportunities for growth and development in the following areas:
  • Creative art
  • Dramatic play
  • Field trips
  • Indoor and outdoor free play
  • Literature and language skills
  • Math readiness
  • Music and rhythmic interpretation
  • Personal hygiene and safety
  • Physical development: gross & fine motor skills
  • Science and nature
  • Social awareness

What Makes Us Unique

  • Founded in 1968, we have been providing high quality preschool in the Radford community for over 50 years.
  • Our class sizes are small, allowing us to reach each student individually and resulting in family atmosphere.  Many friendships formed at Central Preschool continue throughout the school years.
  • We offer a loving Christian environment.  Classes participate in a short devotion with the church pastor once a week.​
  • Central Preschool is licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services.

School Schedule

The preschool day begins at 8:45am and ends at 11:45am.

The school year begins the day after Labor Day, and ends the Friday prior to Memorial Day.

Central Preschool follows the Radford City Public School calendar throughout the school year for holidays and inclement weather closings.

​Registration is held in March for fall classes.
  • ​A birth certificate will be required on or before orientation in August.

Staff

Central Methodist Preschool is currently staffed by three teachers and two teacher aides. Administration is by an on-site Program Director and the Central United Methodist Church Preschool Board.  Staffing is based on number of students enrolled and number of classes offered.

* Classes may vary according to yearly enrollment needs. Toilet training is a prerequisite for all children enrolled.

2022-2023 Tuition Rates

2 day classes: $95 monthly
3 day classes: $135 monthly
5 day classes: $200 monthly
